Fantastic progress!! My accolades to you! This goes to show they could have made this shader 2 compatible (and w2000) but just didn't care to.. shame shame on 2k.

I've updated my page to include beta1 http://homepages.ihug.co.nz/~tetlee/ I've replaced the original archive with the one containing Beta1 too.

Hi, nice progress on the patch guys!

I have one question, i have the retail game - does the patch and the various instructions like the batch file http://www.kimpix.net/bin/shaderdummy.bat)
work OK on the retail too?

I have mirrored this file on my site at http://www.torchdragon.com/stuff/bioshock

My hat is off to all of you far more code-worthy than myself.

Rumor Mill: 2K announces updates Bioshock to only play with shader 4.0 and Direct X 11, consequently none can play.

Hey Scott, thanks a lot for the patch. I really appreciate it. It still amazes me that you were able to virtually fix this thing in a matter of days by yourself. I only notice two issues on the beta patch.

1. The characters either don't cast shadows or they cast shadows that look like giant black blocks. The objects that are supposed to cast shadows don't cast shadows either.

2. The water is white in some areas.

Besides that this patch is perfect.
THANKS A BILLION, YOU HAVE BROUGHT SO MUCH BIOSHOCK HAPPINESS IN MY HOME

This works for playing the game, but you cannot alter any of the settings in the graphics menu without it locking up on you completely.

I was about to upgrade my system until I read about the secuROM problems with this game. Maybe this one is not worth it. Seems like many early purchasers are SOL.

You've done a great job, thanks!

I can live with the remaining glitches, but the slow loading is frustrating. Is there any chance that the loading can be speeded up in a future version of this patch (or an official patch from 2k)?

I'm trying to get this beta 1 working on the actual game (not the demo). I've replaced the shaders.spk file and deleted the .pcs files but I still have the same results as before.
I'm using an ati fireGL v7100 card.

Any ideas??
